About World Dendrology Day

Join Us for World Dendrology Day Educational Programs

We invite you to learn more about this exciting new chapter in forest education and all its connective elements, from a new web site, to both centralized and distributed virtual events, to a history-making celebration of people, science, technology and innovation. We shall strive to make World Dendrology Day one of our most prized annual events, to include tours brought to life by scientists, educators, researchers, horticulturists, hospitality professionals and the entire forestry industry; including schools, universities, arboreta and more, all opening on September 22nd. Enrich your knowledge and appreciation for nature with educational programs, designed for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn about the ecology and conservation of our local environment.

The Internet Brings us All Together

Connecting with one another and sharing expertise is critical for everyone working in the science of dendrology. World Dendrology Day helps keep these connections alive not only on this one special day but also provides the impetus for enthusiasm all year round. We are building our future together, on local and global scales; different people and places united in a drive for vibrant communities of forest resource advocates. The internet, the world wide web, social media and the newest video conference technologies bring us together in ways not possible even a few short years ago.

A Team of Industry Leaders

This event has been established by an organizing committee of leaders (see web site www.WorldDendrologyDay.org) to bring participants closer to exemplary outreach programs having a good educational and community impact. Our goal is to elevate the educational outreach on topics such as dendrology, arboreta, botanic gardens and be a resource for taxonomic and silvicultural information

Why World Dendrology Day?

World Dendrology Day...  a cause to champion.

  • to deepen the understanding of trees, promote appreciation for their diversity, and encourage the conservation of forests.
  • to celebrate the positive impact of dendrology on the economy, culture and society.
  • to promote science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning and education.
  • to recognize those who advanced the science of dendrology and to honor those who devoted their careers to expand the field of dendrology.

Please let us know if you can think of some more reasons to celebrate.

The Future of Dendrology

The influence of dendrology and the people doing the work spreads far beyond their achievement in unifying the professions of silviculture, horticulture and plant sciences. Their newest concepts and innovations begin to reveal the transformative nature of the next generation of dendrologists. This is the triumph of 21st century science and technology and its execution has made possible a vast array of new breakthroughs in dendrology. Their collective brilliance still inspires our search for iterative and leap-frog improvements and builds hope that their leadership will illuminate the path to further discovery in years to come. We seek to highlight on a yearly basis, during World Dendrology Day, these exciting evolutionary developments and the people who bring them forward.

Raising Awareness

World Dendrology Day aims to raise awareness of the many positive contributions that trees have made to our lives, culture and society. World Dendrology Day celebrates the people that research, build, and support the broad range of forest resources that embellish our living environment, worldwide.
